Since 1999, Low Budget TV's Tommy and I have made Toyota Speedway at Irwindale our home track. Often times, people are surprised we've been making the 45 minute drive...but no matter how many minutes it takes, the racing is ALWAYS worth it. Every night, every race, every driver.
Starting in 2006, we walked around with a (toy) microphone and video camera which has now expanded to be a REAL microphone, a high quality video camera, and even...A TRIPOD! We often joke about the expansion and growth of LBTV, but it really has been a wonderful experience.
Opening night, March 27, is right around the corner (Turn 4 of the off season) and we're preparing for our best year yet! While on track announcing for autograph session, getting the scoop before the night's activities, and of course mingling with fellow fans before the green flag falls...once the engines roar, so will the camera.
First off, I highly recommend any and all fans to get to the track as early as possible. 4pm rolls around and qualifying gets going. This is the real start of the show, setting the stage for the evening. If you can't make it for qualifying, definitely be there in time for King Taco autograph session! You literally get to walk up to every driver and every car that will do battle (and some have candy!!!). Low Budget TV will be on track interviewing alongside TV personality Gordon "Lugnutzz" Stewart.
During the races, LBTV is on the roof filming every lap of action...and this year expanding to new heights. On most nights we'll visit victory lane, catching the drivers right after their win. Also from last year, our coverage will be announced by Tommy and myself. Now with an assistant on board, we are going to expand more up to date coverage with the addition of listening to race control. We'll be selling DVD's at lbtvdvds.com.
